No
Going to egypt next month and i was just wondering if it is ok to put my camera bag inside my actual hand luggage?

Might be a silly question to some but you know what these airports are like these days they might be funny about it!

cheers

No problem at all. Travel to US and UK regularly with my Camera Bag as hand luggage

Never had a problem with a bag full of cameras, big lenses and a laptop.

Well I had a problem once where they decided it was a bit heavy, but still got away with it!

the camera bag is the size of my camera but it will be going inside my main hand luggage bag, as long as its fine then thats great!

shouldnt be a problem the most ive had is someone have a quick look in the camera bag but thats it

i have been askes to open my camera bags before in certain airports but never had it questioned to the point it may become a problem.
I have even had a shoulder camera bag and a tripod in a bag over the other shoulder. Was able to take them both on. I have notice that if the tripod is clasped to a bag or not in a bag it has to be checked in.

I went to egypt 2 years ago on a scuba diving holiday,no problem with my camera.:D

thanks everyone!thats the camera query sorted now just hope the weather is gonna be warm so i can catch a decent tan!

I took mine through heathrow last april. They made me remove the camera from the bag, put the bag in my hand luggage, then carry the camera through seperately (and xray it seperately). They certainly didn't have any problem with it, as long as I long had one bag.

We went in feb 2 yrs ago and we were burning on the beach,we went to sharm el sheikh.:D

When I went to Poland last month, I just had to take all my gear out of my bag and pop it in a tray, quite embarassing as it was my first time travelling with it in hand luggage....I'd have turned round and gone home if it'd been Nikon :p

But yes, no problems :)

I would not carry my camera gear any other way, unless forced. Usually not a problem, but some staff can get silly about the regs.

My only problem has been the size/weight exceeding the cabin allowance, when one airline said it did not comform to size - it was small enough, but too deep to fit in their size checker thing. This bag had never been a problem before but I was forced to repack some stuff in my hold luggage, hastily on the airport floor. I subsequently found that security had unpacked my hold luggage to check, repacked it badly, and one item got damaged en route.

So I would say, usually not a problem, but have a plan B ready for stoopid officials ;)

I was in Egypt 2 years ago (arrived in Luxor) and had no problems.
Even took an internal flight from Luxor to Cairo and back without any problems so you should be fine.
The only problem I had with the camera was whenever a local got into the shot (and this happened in the Valley of the Kings, the unfinished needle, the Pyramids and Sphinx, temple of Philea, in fact everywhere we went) they expected to be paid but just ignore them.
On the dam at Aswan be careful when you use your camera as it over looks a military base and you may get a stern talking too by armed guards ( who in the end actually posed for me )
Its a beautiful country so enjoy it.

Before you fly: check, double-check and triple-check your cabin baggage allowance.

It varies more than you'd think from one airline to another. For example:
* British Aiways - one bag measuring up to 56 x 45 x 25 cm and weighing up to 23 kg
* Virgin Atlantic - one bag measuring up to 56 x 36 x 23 cm and weighing up to 6 kg

When you get back: show us your best shots from 35,000 feet!

If you're flying from Gatwick take anything you like they don't seem to care. Flew to Morocco last month and they stopped and searched the Mrs' bag because they thought they saw liquid. Even after they searched the bag they still didn't find the 3 inch penknife she'd forgotten to take out sitting in the bottom!
