Hi,
this is my first wedding with a bride and groom with a big height difference!
There is about a foot difference. I have been to the venue, and as long as its fine, there are outdoor steps which will help, but what about poses just for the two of them? There is a small lake with a bridge, which i have used before, but i wondered if anyone can post me any poses etc!
I have said to them that you cant chage them too much, because thats who they are, and it would look strange if they were both the same height in the photos!!
Any advice would be greatly received,

let them be themselves, and dont pose them too hard - they will know how to be with eachother, they will have been kissing for years - lol
 
You could take a box for her to stand on?

Try the film trick of having her stand closer to the camera than him.

Your best bet is to have a chat to them about it. they will be aware of it, but tell them you want to produce the best photos you can, and have seen bad jobs done in the past with lots of stretching and bending which doesn't look photogenic.

If they want to have her stood on boxes etc, they will tell you and if they want the photos to look as they are in real life they will decide.

They are there photos, but you want to do your best, so ask them.
 
Thanks Richard & Lawrie, and yes I am talking to them, but the bride is really worried about it. Im quite relaxed and think it will all work itself out on the day!

just let them be who they are if they were bothered about it they wouldn't be together,????

ps.. 25 years of weddings .
and international award winning Wedding photographer.... But all this is IMO :lol:
 
I wouldn't say that 1 foot is a big height difference tbh.

There is a couple at work, she's 4ft 5 and he is 6ft 4 :)

Now that's a difference :)

As said, let them be themselves, use things like staircases or steps to even it out :)
 
My Grandmother was 18" shorter than my Grandfather but in their wedding photos, they look about the same height. Full length shots show her stood 2 steps higher than him.
 
Those Tom Cruise wedding shots spring to mind. There was a rumour they'd put the bride into a hollow next to Tom, which was hidden by her dress.

With the groom stood behind slightly to one side, at least you'll see both faces.
Hows the height difference when sitting down? I guess it's down to how you use the location and what's available.
