I am sure that there are several forums on this subject but I could use some advice on which bag to get. Gripped 7d + 400 f5.6 attached plus gripped 450 with 17-85 would be ideal, with a couple of small and a flash gun plus manfrotto legs.
Both seem to be similar capacity and cost but unable to view either
 
I have the Flipside 400.

I can't comment on the Canon gear, but I have a D3 and a gripped D700. The D3 makes a little bulge in the back of the bag, but, the back padding is so thick, it doesn't stick in your back at all. The gripped D700 isn't as tall as the D3. My largest lens is a 70-200 f2.8. That combo is roughly 3/4 the length of the interior. Again, I don't know the 17-85 but I'm guessing it's similar to my 50mm ART. If that's the case, that's a fair whack of the space taken up. The zipped pocket on the front would easily take a couple of speedlights. It's whether you're comfortable doing that.
