I need a Wide angle lens to use on Canon 5D mk1 or 30d has anyone experience of the Tamron 10-24 as it is much cheaper than canon's 10-22 and it is a lens which though needed will get little use. I shoot Weddings. Thanks

The problem is, wide angle on your 5D and 30D are very different things, due to the crop factor. For example, for the same field of view, you're looking at a 17-something for the 5d, however that would be a 'normal' view for the 30D, and you need something in the 10mm range to see what you'd get on full-frame at 17mm!

Jessops say it will work on both but my feeling is it would be as wide as I would need on the 30D leaving my 5D with the 24-105L .

It will FIT onto the 5D but not work as you'd expect, it wont fill the sensor with the image, only a circular area in the center.

The only ultra wide that works on full frame and crop is the sigma 12-24

It will be fine on the 30D though :)

It will physically fit on the 5D, but the image circle won't fill the sensor, so it'll look like you're peering down a tunnel! The 10-24 on the 30D and 24-105 on the 5D will leave you with ultra-wide and standard ranged covered

Have you thought about the Sigma 15-30mm - absolutely brilliant, wide as anything on a FF body and optically sharp as a knife. Build quality is top too.

I'd imagine anything wider than that would be crazy and would potentially melt viewers' eyes ;)
