Tamron 10-24mm lens SP Di2

Ive got the above lens and it takes cracking sharp photos, what is irritating though is when I open it up to 10mm I have to remove the hood that came with it, as it encroaches on to the photo.

Does anyone know a replacement hood which might work better ?

mine dosent do that at 10mm have you got a shot of what you mean.

I'll try and get one in the morning, as I always stopped short of taking the photo when saw the dark lines show in the viewfinder

What number hood do you have - mine reads AB001 as the code

Possible stupid question, but are you sure you have the hood aligned correctly?

Did you buy the lens new? If not maybe the previous owner replaced the hood with an aftermarket one that isn't quite right, for example the ET60 hood for a 55-250 vignettes badly on the kit lens....that kind of thing?

Nick - yes this one was bought new - hence sounding silly question by me

Shufflem - not a daft question as I began to question myself on this, but it will only fit tightly to the lens in one orientation

Bleddyn - this is a shot just taken at 10mm wide on a full frame camera. Lens hood is clicked into place with the word Tamron aligned up with a dot on the lens.

The petal shape of the hood sees the longer extrusions at the top and bottom, and the shorter extrusions on either side.

Ahhh, but did you tell said photography shop that you intended using a lens designed for crop cameras on a full-frame camera!

Also, can you use the canon in crop mode, which would solve your problem, albeit with smaller images?

I said at the time, I was getting a 5d in a couple of months and was looking for a decent wide angle to use with it, being a novice at the time I didn't think with it being an EF fitting there would be an issue, I thought EF-S were for the crops, but they could use EF, but not vice versa - this lens was recommended - to be honest I love the lens so will just use it without the hood on at times

I don't know what comparable lenses there are for the full frame cameras at non silly prices - can anyone recommend just incase I change my mind.

Does it not vignette badly and go really bad on the outer edges?

Not that Ive really noticed - with very wide angle photos you always get some that don't look quite right, but most are what I looked for and am happy with

Maybe at 16mm+ it will not have black edges if you are lucky. But it is not a very sharp lens at all from experience.
It should be a nice reason to have a fun afternoon in that shop though

I'll sort out a photo without the hood on and you can guys can let me have your opinion on vignetting etc

Just done some testing at 14mm + its ok, below this its vignetting definitely.

So I need now to find a lens near to this sort of level which works with full frame.

Recommendations anyone ?

ah ha problem solved then thank god for that as i shot a couple of pics today but there where at 11mm :bonk::bonk::bonk:.

i have only used my 10-24 three times and that includes today.im actually thinking about selling it soon as i dont realy need it realy.

this was shot at 11mm and the weather as terrible

Budget - probably depends on what I sell this one for and perhaps a little bit more - definitely cant justify some of the prices I have seen on the Canon lenses
