Not another thread about the Tamron, you must be thinking? 
A different question though. There seems to have been a version which was driven by the screw-drive AF motors in Nikon bodies, and then at some point they begun implementing focus motors in-lens so that owners of the D40/D60 et al. could focus using them. The word on the street seems to be that the focus is ever so slightly slower with the latter... but was the former ever discontinued?
If I went to buy a non-VC Tamron today, would I only get the version with the focus motor built in?
I tried to work it out based on the lens naming designations, but after getting lost in a world of IF, Di II and XR I gave up :bang:
