Tamron 17-50 f2.8 - where's the sweet spot?

I used my Tamron 17-50mm extensively on holiday last week and looking at the images it's hard to find where the sweet spot is. I know it's not at f32!!! images are very soft at this aperture. I found it pretty good at f4 but I'm sure it should be best at f14 or so but it's not. f11 is still pretty soft. So looks like mine is f8 and below

So where is your sweet spot?
 
Ahhh! That's very interesting!! Thanks for the link, explains a lot! :)
 
I find mine is excellent at f5.6, I can imagine it getting any sharper.
