Tamron 17-50 f2.8

Anyone got any feedback for this lens? Could do with something at the wider end but budget has been hammered lately :|

A very popular lens across all lens mounts (I use it on Nikon), many people can vouch for it and countless threads on TP in the past have done so.

But if you are shooting with a full frame 5dmkII, I believe the Canon version (like the other mounts) only covers an APS-C sized sensor?

Yup, APS-C only although it will mount on a 5D you will not get full coverage of the sensor.

I had one (Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 non VC) for a few years and it was really sharp, so sharp that portraits look a little too sharp, wrinkles and all

Currently my only lens but as others have said, it's very good.
