Yes
As above can't decide on which.

What are the pro and cons of each, what would you get

Would have thought that the Sigma 18-50 2.8 would be a better alternative to the Tamron.

Anyway, from the two you mentioned, the Tamron offers constant F2.8 which would probably be enough to persuade me on its own but it is also supposed to be super sharp.

Deffo the Tamron 17-50mm and not just for the constant f2.8. The IQ is superb for the money. As mentioned there is the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 aswell but I have heard stories about poor consistancy between lens with quite a few suffering back/front focusing issues aswell as other faults.

I've had both. Definitely the Tamron. 2.8 all the way across the zoom range makes the difference.

Yeah I will be getting the 17-50 is 350 about average price new?

Thanks for all the replies much appreciated!

If I was using a Nikon I would also look hard at the Sigma as the Nikon version came with HSM. This should give excellent focus speed, although the Tamron is 1mm wider.

Tamron is £266 from amazon at the mo for the non vc version which is supposed to be sharper anyway.;)
