im going to buy a tamron 17 50 in the next few days is the vc worth the extra money is the iq as good im looking at the non vc at the moment but if the vc it better i might wait a bit till ive got the money

To be honest, I would go with the older non VC version considering that a VC on a 17-50mm focal length is really much good when using the rule of focal length=shutter speed eg. 50mm=1/50.

i am looking out for a non vc one after my experience with the vc model
i got mine from jessops as i expected it to be going back after all i had read as well
there was that little voice inside my head that said you might be lucky and get a good copy but unfortunately not

looks like the non vc then as i will be buying it from onestop digital [best price i can find] and dont realy want to be sending a bad copy back thanks for all the input if any dody knows anywere i can get one cheaper £262 let us know thanks again

i think that the problem with the VC version was the high expectations , everyone is trying to compare it to the Canon 17-55 which is better than many Canon L lenses !!! remember that VC can be really helpful if u r shooting handheld in low light ..i ve got the VC version on my 50D and i am happy so far ...

Got a mk2 version (not the screw-driven one for NAF) and it's awesome; as good as the Nikon version. Love mine to bits for magazine work - cost £160 off fleabay. Get one....

I have (in the last 15 mins) received a Non VC version (canon fit) and it is superbly built, quite heavy but feels great in the hand. I'm at work so will have to wait to test it at home but i'm sure it will be spot on!

You wont regret it, got the non VC version myself and it now lives on my D90.
Only need to swap to my 35mm or 50mm primes when in extreme low light or when I need more creativity with apertures below 2.8.
