Tamron 18-200 v Nikon 18-200

I am looking to buy an everyday lens so that I use my D7000 more. I have been looking at a new Tamron 18-200 or a second hand Nikon 18-200 (1st edition). The reviews of the Nikon are favourable, but second hand it is still twice the cost of the Tamron. Does anyone have any experience of the two? I am leaning towards the Nikon at the mo. The Tamron is not really a very stellar lens, actually it is more in the "just okay" range although to be fair, some have claimed to have gotten a sharp copy but they are the exception to the rule.

I wouldn't consider either on a D7000 the sensor demands better glass than either of these can offer.

I had a Nikkor 18-200 Mk1 for a while but it was more miss than hit but then again it could be down to my poor photography technique:shrug:

Well not really in that range zoom range, I sold my 18-200mm and bought a 11-16mm Tokina for landscape shots and a nikon 17-55mm for general use, these both produce a marked improvement in IQ to the 18-200mm but at a price and compromise in versatility.

I definately need something with extra reach myself so I'm in the process of saving for a 70-200mm V2, but this will take some time.

The 24-70 f/2.8 G is probably the best option for your camera & everyday need. You could try to find a used one but still pricey I would imagine.
