Tamron 18-250?

I currently have a 450d and 18-55 (non IS) and 55-250 IS lenses.

I can get a Tamron 18-250 for £225 which seems a good price and would cut down on lens changes when I am in dusty places.

I don't really have a style of photos I stick to, I do some landscapes, some motorsport, some photos of family events etc

I would then probably get a 50mm 1.8 for low light stuff and am thinking about a longer zoom for motorsports (possibly the 100-400 or a long Sigma).

Would swapping the 18-55 and 55-250 for the Tamron 18-250 be a good move?

Nope, but swapping them both for the Tamron 18-270 VC would be a good move.
It's a great lens for the money, I owned one for about a year, have a look at some reviews.

I agree, I'd look at IS/OS/VC lenses if you're after a superzoom as they tend to be pretty slow at the long end.

I'd say the Sigma 18-200 OS would be a better buy. With all these superzoom lenses there is compromise with IQ. It's better to have several short zooms or even primes but we know thats not feasible.
I have the above Sigma lens, owned it, sold it then regretted it so bought it again.

I'd read some reviews, there's plenty online.

Keep the two lenses....I got rid of my 18-270 cos it was way too slow to focus....

That wasn't an issue for me on the Canon version.
Obviously being a super-zoom the focusing would be a bit slower but I also found it fine when I had a play with one on Nikon body (no idea which model) before I bought one.
The IQ was also as good as the Canon 55-250, if not slightly better.

Yeah...nothing particularly wrong with IQ (although i think the two lenses i have now are better), but unless you were in broad daylight the damn thing took so long to focus...and as for indoors?? :bonk: Used to drive me nuts.
