Anyone got any good experiences with this lens?

I am looking for a one stop shop to take on holiday with me. Would be using for general holiday snaps, cities, people and beaches etc.

Have also been looking at the 18-200 Nikon.

I have a 70-300 Tamron which produces decent shots, so I am not afraid of going non Nikon.

Also the Sigma 18-250 has been mentioned before.

I am shooting Nikon D3100 DX format.

Any tips welcome.

18-200mm straight from a RAW @ f8.

Can't say anything for the Tamron but the 18-200mm is fantastic - can't rave about it enough.

If we're stating the blindingly obvious, then yes, the key difference is 100mm at the long end.

It's quite liberating having an effective 27-450mm on hand all the time, opens up all sorts of opportunities for a general walkabout lens!

I have this lens, still in learning phase but glad I got the lens.

I did find a web site that compared the Tamron to the Nikon 18-200 and also another lens. It is worth a read but there wasn't much difference in them, and nothing to say don't get the Tamron.
