Tamron 18-270 VC exif data

I have just aquired a Tamron 18-270 VC (non PZD) lens.

It appears that either my D5100 doesn't read the data from the lens or its coding isn't available. The image contains a lens ID of 245.

In lightroom if I select Tamron in lens lens correction all the other detail is added correctly.

Is there a work round? Tamron want about £75 to 'repair' it which I presume is just re-programming the lens.

Addition issues are that it struggles to fine focus & motor (or VC) is very noisy

Just in case anyone else has this issue (lens non specific), here is a solution

Two things you need to do.


1) Select an image shot with one of your lenses, manually select the correct lens profile, and go to Setup> Save New Lens Profile Defaults. You will need to do this with each one of your lenses.


2) Set the default Develop settings for each camera model to use Lens Profiles by selecting an image, hit Reset (your current default settings), select the correct lens profile, and then go to toolbar Develop> Set Default Settings> Update to Current Settings.


Now when you Import new image files the correct Lens Profile will be applied automatically. Adobe only provides raw image lens profile for third-party lenses, which won't show up with JPEG image files. Lens profiles for both raw and JPEG images are provided for some manufacturer's lenses.
