Tamron 18-270 vs Sigma 18-250

hiya,

Looking for peoples opinions on the 2 above lens as Im going to purchase one but torn between the both of them, looking at the cheaper £300ish versions of them for a canon if that makes a difference

I know nothing about the Sigma, but I have the Tamron (non PZD version), and within its obvious design compromises it does what it says on the tin. The focusing is a bit slow and rather noisy, but not so much that it's a problem as far as I'm concerned.

thanks for your opinion its real world comments like that is what Im after, do you find it useful as a one stop walkabout type lens?

Hi I'm a newby and so I can't give you all the correct terminology, I purchased the Sigma 18 - 250 OS primarly for my younger sister to use as a general purpose lens with her 550d. Although I occasionaly use it with my 400d, she is very impressed with it.

After doing quite a fair amount of research I found the reviews to be quite positive.

Anyways from my experience (newby) I found it focused pretty quickly and the noise was very acceptable i.e. you don't notice it to much. The image quality I found very nice. The OS was very helpful especailly with my shaky hands and I also liked the lock button which prevents the lens from extending when not required.

Once again sorry I can't be more technical, hope this is of some use.

hiya kicsrepins, thanks for taking the time to respond, looks good some cracking pictures on that link you posted some beautiful imagery just shows you that you dont always need the best kit
