Tamron 18-270mm f3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD

So im looking for a good all-round general lens to take with me when im on my travels and can not afford to carry too many lens around with me.
reading on of my magazines i see that Tamron do a 18-270mm lens (Tamron 18-270mm f3.5-6.3 Di II VC PZD)
I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this lens?
From what i can tell this seems to be an updated model to a lens already out there on the market the B003 which was slightly larger and featured a different drive mech.
Warehouse express have given this lens a good write up to see here, so has anyone here got anything else to add to this?
Would you use one if like me you were say on a weekend city break and only were able to take one/two lens with you do to only taking hand luggage etc?or if you were trekking up some mountains?

When i was in the market for one of these super zoom lenses i tried the Sigma 18-250, and the Tamron 18-270, at the time the PZD version was not out.

In the end i went with the Canon 18-200 as this gave the best overall image quality. The Tamron does have GOD LIKE image stabilization but the image quality was a bit hit and miss. At the time the PZD version was just out and it was around £700, way too much for this type of lens. I know it has dropped a lot since then since Jan this year so i guess it would be best if you go to your local shop and try it out.

I always take my laptop with me so i can view the files on a large screen before i buy any lens to make sure im happy with the purchase.

I've got the non-PZD version which I use as my general-purpose walkabout lens, and from my non expert perspective its image quality is no worse than the Nikon 18-55 and 55-300 which it replaced. It's got a rough edge or two, but nothing fatal - the zoom tends to stick a bit in the middle of the range for example. Focusing is a bit on the slow side and rather noisy, but I expect that the PZD version improves on this. I'm happy with it and consider it money well spent.
