Tamron 18-400 experience

I can now reply to my own question should anyone be interested in buying one as I recieved my copy the other day.
The range is obviously a huge plus, along with the weight. It is about half the weight of my previously owned Canon 100-400 mk1. It is also about a third of the price of a new 100-400 mk2. As a result I would expect a loss of quality and over 300mm the shaprness falls a bit. More so at the edges but the centre remains of an acceptable standard. I would not recommend this lens for anyone looking to shoot wildlife as the chances are you would be using the 400mm end more often and unless you are close, you are not going to obtain sharp eyes of your subject.
I got it as a walkabout and landscape and for that it is certainly perfect for me. Excluding the difference in focal ranges, performance wise between 100-400, I would place it somewhere between the Canon 55-250 and the Canon 100-400 mk1 having owned both.
