Was wondering what you guys think of this lens? Is a wide angle lens for 35mm format.

Reason why i'm asking is i miss the 18mm range since i sold my 18-70 nikon for the 28-70 nikon f2.8

I don't shoot much landscape or need super wide angle so something around 18-19 will do for me.

I've came across this Tamron and i can get hold of one for around £70.

Will this lens do the trick for me? I know for that price i really can't go wrong.

With this lens i will mainly be shooting landscape so i most likely won't be shooting the lens wide open but might be occasionally as walk around.

If only little softness wide open or corner softness i think i can gamble on the lens.

another lens that i'm also looking at is the Tokina 19-35mm f3.5 - 4.5 but thats abit more expensive.

IIRC the Tamron 19-35mm is pretty much the same lens as the Cosina 19-35mm (not 100% sure thought). I had the Cosina version a little while ago and was never overly impressed with it. It wasnt really poor but wasnt really good either.

That said it can be bought for around £30 compared to the Tamron equivalant.

Hi,

As I don't do as many weddings now, also I'm not a landscape tog. I have sold my Canon 16-35 2.8 and gone for a cheap Tamron 19-35mm for wide group shots on Full frame.

I'm fairly happy with it, especially I don't use the wide angle for more than 10 shots per wedding.

I've bought this lens for £50 awhile ago and it is better then i expected to behonest. Focus was faster then i expected from a Tamron and is accurate as well.

Shooting wide open it can be soft but like i said i use this for landscape so i won't shoot wide open anyway .......

they are NOT the same lens, the Cosina is better than the Tamron. I liked my Cosina (branded Vivitar Series one in my case), it was ok, nothing majorly exciting but it was certainly not a poor performer. Build quality could be likened to a french car however!
