Hi i was wondering if any1 could give a little light on this lens. I have read reviews and most a very good.
I have a chance to get one £550 and i would like something at this length due to wildlife photo's.

Is there any other i should look at at this sort of price range??
I been told the sigma is a no no as it is soft. is this true?? they are cheaper

Cheers

The reviews I have read about this particular lens is that it is very slow to AF and can hunt whilst tracking subjects..

Not many reviews out there but the two I have read seem to say the same..

But for the price and focal length range, it doesn't seem too bad for the money

I dont think my Sigma 150-500 is soft, I've been very pleased with mine had it 11 months now and I would only consider a swap for a Canon 500L f4

When I as buying, I tried it back to back with the Sigma on my D50, and found the Tamron just that little bit sharper. Probably fair to say the focusing isn't the fastest in the world, but accept its limits and its not bad at all. Could well be selling mine sometime soon

I have used a Tamron 200-500 on a Nikon D80 which I used for sports and find the focusing fast enough not tried it on birds in flight though.

I take it you are talking 2nd hand at £550 as best price over £800 on Pricebuster.
