tamron 70-200 2.8 Nikon

Does anyone here own this lens? Im consider 70-200 2.8 lenses at the minute and would appreciate any thoughts on the tamron.

Its a fairly decent lens but the AF is horribly slow compared the the Nikon, if budget is an issue then go for the Sigma 70-200mm, a much better choice IMHO, if you're considering using the Tamron for any fast action sport then dont.

What do you want to use it for. It's a sharp piece of glass but it isn't the fastest focusing on the planet so great for portraits/weddings/street photography but not so good for sports or wildlife.

For AF speed you want the Sigma but it isn't as sharp, if you want sharp and fast AF then you need the Nikon.

It would be mainly for outdoor portraits so AF speed wouldn't be critical probably more interested in image quality

I agree but if you get a good copy of the Sigma you have all bases covered for about the same price.
