Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 or Nikon 70-300VR

Looking to add one of the above to compliment my d90, nifty fifty and kit 18-105. Like the nikon as it has vr and extra reach, but the 2.8 is tempting too!

Just do general family snaps, day trips etc... Any views on these, especially the tamron.

I have the 70-300 VR and I'm quite impressed with it. Images are sharp throughout the focal range and the extra reach does come in handy It's extremely quick to focus too.

Used to have the 55-200 on my old d40 and must admit to thinking then I could do with a bit extra... good to hear that its fast to focus, as my one year old will not stay still!
