Yes
Right I have a Tamron 70-300mm on a Sony Alpha and was thinking about adding a teleconverter to the collection as I sometimes feel that I don't have enough reach with it when I'm photographing birds.

Has anyone used one with this lens to recommend or know about how it affects picture quality?

Thanks

I find my Tamrons a bit soft at 300mm as it is :/ but I have the same feeling as you. I'm just also unsure how much it would affect the IQ.

Not sure if you'll have compatibility problems with the TC and lens. The 70-300mm lenses aren't really designed to take TCs as it makes (if functional) manual focus only. Most entry level / semi pro bodies will only function upto f5.6 lens and TC combined. As your lens is already f5.6 with the TC that makes it f8 maximum (wide open) at 300mm.

TCs are really only designed for the faster prime lenses like the 300mm f2.8 that can handle slower autofocus and loss of an f-stop of light.

Not sure I would recommend adding a TC to the Tamron 70-300mm as its already a slow lens, if the TC would work on that lens in the first place
