Tamron 70-300mm VC stuck on +2 EC?

Hi

I bought the above lens off here a while back but have barely touched it.

I went to use it today and found the exposure compensation seems to be stuck on plus 2. The camera itself shows no compensation but as soon as I depress the shutter, every image has +2 compensation so everything looks over exposed.

If I manually set it to -2 on the camera, it makes no difference, each image is still +2. My other two lenses don't do it, just this one.

The lens also seems very very soft and the focus does not look sharp, even when done manually.

Get the feeling I may have bought a duff one and not noticed till now! The seller promised to forward on the box several months ago but they kept ignoring my messages so I had a feeling something wasn't right but the lens seemed ok at first but I didn't test it properly I must admit!

Thanks

Very strange o_O Only thing I can suggest, is cleaning the contacts on the lens, in case it's a communication issue.

What f-stop is this happening at on your test shot? Sounds to me like maybe the aperture iris isn't closing down to the required f-stop once you've press the shutter button so it's always firing 'wide-open'.

Happens at all F Stops.

Any image I take is +2 EV.

Even when focussing the camera shows +2 EV despite me manually setting it back to -2 EV.

As said, only happens on this lens.

Will try and clean the contacts,

My 5D also acted strange for 3 times, always with the Tamron 70-300 VC attached.
Twice, it closed the lens diaphragm for a few seconds and I had to turn off the camera. Once, the camera was "stuck" on f/6.3 and didn't let me change that. I had to turn it off for a few minutes,
Since then, never had any problems.

Can it be a software problem/bug?

Turns out where was another EV setting within the cameras menu. I didn't think too look there as I assumed the button on the camera which controls the EV would do it but there seem to be two controls for EV, one within the menu and one on a button!! Thanks for the help anyway :)

not sure if my tammy is VC or not, but ive not had that issue with the EV but focus is very soft for me, even at F8 which is supposed to be around the sweet spot.
