No
Tamron have just announced a new 85mm 1.8 with VC. I'm tired of waiting for Sigma to update their 85 1.4 to an ART. Think I'll get this one. It'll probably be more useful to me since I can't hold a camera steady to save my life so the VC is arguably going to be more useful to me than ever so slightly better IQ that no-one can tell unless you pixel peep

Any image samples floating around?

Definitely an interesting option, doubtless considerably more expensive than the Canon/Nikon f1.8 options though

It'd have to go some to make me replace my Canon 85 1.8 but you're right, how long can it possibly take Sigma to knock out that 85 1.4 Art?! It's been rumoured for a year or so and if it's as good at the 35 Art it'll fly off the shelves.

the current 85/1.4 is very good, it just doesnt have the secondary bits that come with the newer generation of sigma lenses, which isnt a big deal really

Indeed. the old Siggy 85mm f1.4 is excellent and they'll have to try hard to better the IQ with a new Art lens. No IS though and I'll be surprised if any new 85mm Art comes with IS.

It wont. None of the ARTS have OS, Sigma keeps that for zooms, I tend to agree.

It's good but not as good as the 85 1.4g from Nikon or even the 85 1.8g. I'm hoping that an 85 ART would give me the performance of the Nikon 85 1.4g (or better) but at a more wallet friendly price. I know I am probably asking for moon on a stick!

I think theres 1 point of difference between the 1.4G and the Sigma on DXOmark (hardly a lot), the AF is also quicker with the Sigma. I personally much prefer the way the Sigma renders over the 1.8G.

Yup. With lenses like this I think the look is very important as it's largely why we buy these lenses.
