Hi everyone
I am planning to get my D700 next week, also I am planning to get a Tamron 28-75 f2.8 to start with, I cant afford the NIkon just yet.
I have heard a lot of good reviews about this lens providing you get a good sample.
the question here is if I get a bad copy, is it easy to send it back for servicing to re allign the glass for the D700, do they have a good service? would they be able to fix any problems?
I have never owend a 3rd party lens that's why I am a bit worried.

Many thanks,
Kardo

Less than a week on all three lenses i sent back for adjustment (2 didn't need any, but wanted to be sure before selling them on)

Two of them were pin sharp already, but as i was selling them i had them checked as a matter or course. The other was slightly softer on one side that the other, so i sent it in.

Upon its return it was pin sharp across the frame wide open.

How much did they charge for the service?

If its under G'tee and Proof Of Purchase is supplied then you just pay for the postage to them.

None of my lenses are, i was curious as to how much the different brands charge for calibration etc?

Intro 2020. If you drop them an email, you'll get a reply (usually from Andrea) advising what to do and where to send it to.

Thanks for the info.

Further to that, this is the standard reply from any email sent to them regarding allignment / adjustments etc.

Dear Sir,

If you wish to send your lens to us , please find our standard return instructions given below:

Please send the equipment to us at the address below marked for the attention of the Service Department (not myself). Please enclose a letter detailing the fault, with your name and address printed clearly. Please also enclose a copy of your original invoice for a warranty repair( 1 year warranty). If you do not have this we will then send you an estimate for the cost of repair detailing the work required and payment methods. If you did not wish to proceed with the repair the only cost incurred would be return postage (£7.50p plus VAT in UK). If you proceed with the repair - the average turn round time at present is 10-14 working days once the estimate has been proceeded. All equipment is tested before return and there is a 6 month warranty on all repairs.
Please be advised that a cheque will take 8-10 days to clear. If you wished to pay by credit card our telephone number is given on the estimate in order that you can ring us and proceed the repair by giving us your card details.

Regards,
Andrea Takahashi
Service Department

There's calibration for focus error, and there's rebuilding the entire lens.

Sorting the focus is a two minute job, but stripping and rebuilding to correct any lens alignment errors, is not.

Really really sorry to dig up an old thread but did anyone in this thread have their Tamron lens calibrated by intro 2020?

Can you remember how much it cost?

I sent a 28-75 f2.8 for AF calibration. I think it was about £45 or so. It was better but not 100% right so sent it back again under their warranty a couple of months later. It came back but I was never really happy with the lens and sold it cheap because of it. Not sure if it was just a bad lens or they weren't good enough to fix it.
I have heard many good reviews about Intro 2020 so I suspect it was a dud lens afterall.
Allan
