I gave the lens hood on my Tamron 17-50 the teensiest of bangs last night and now the fitting it attaches too on the lens is loose. Is this common? Anyone know a fix?

Mrs Flash's wee boy Graham has mentioned a front end fix and a YouTube video. It may cover the same problem.

My sample of this fabled lens (the non-motor version, fleabayed from the States) is annoyingly carp top right for foliage etc at a distance, so has to be used for close-range stuff, only. It's a bit creaky when attaching the hood.

Ta. Hope he sees this cos I cannae access YouTube on my mobile and can't clear my inbox either.

The one i had was like that, if you look there is a ring that pops out round the front near the element. That should give you access to three small screws, probably just needs a wee tighten.

Stalker! I've had a look and it's definitely the screws working loose. Will fix (without gaffer tape, thank you, Tom) when I'm home.

As long as it's an easy fix I'm happy, fella. :)

Mega easy, just take the plastic ring off that covers the screws (inside the filter thread) tighten the screws up, and put the ring back on, job done!

Just watch out for scratching the front element.....screwdrivers that close to glass could end up in total disaster!!
