Tamron SP 15-30mm F/2.8

Saw this Lens is due for release soon. Does anyone know the expected release date and the retail price?

I need a wide angle lens for FF and until this point have been set of the Canon 16-35mm F4 but this Tamron one sounds very interesting based the reviews I've read.

I would also be interested to find out if its as sharp as Canon's offering

Not sure on a release date but pricing appears to be around $1500 in the USA so expensive! I've seen a few bits of analysis suggesting optically its close to the revered Nikon 14-24 f2.8 lens so it looks like it could be a cracker!

Can't actually find it listed, but apparently already available overseas.

Shown here, but with no price, so can't be too far off hopefully.

Annoying it also has the Nikon 14-24 styling of lack of filter thread.

At that price tho, its got to be a cracking lens.

Nikon and Canon can simply make their new bodies incompatible with the lens and then the end user would end up with a lens that doesn't work if they need to upgrade or having to fork out on re-chip the lens.

They often report themselves as a OEM lens, my tampon 70 300 tells the camera its the Sony 70300

Ah lack of filter thread would be annoying, I'm in transition between a D800 and the Sony A7 anyway so I think my Nikon 16-35 will probably get traded for the Sony FE 16-35 lens.
