Tamron sp 60mm or sp 90mm ?

Hi guys
Just getting back into hobby, would like to get opinions on tamron sp 60mm and sp 90mm macro
Is either one better than than the other, and which one would be best suited to my canon 1dmk11n

How close do you want to get to your subject as what type macro you like? Longer focal length (in this case 90mm) allows you to achieve 1:1 magnification further away from the subject. Also not sure but I think 90mm is for full frame, 60mm is crop factor lens. but maybe somebody else can jump in and correct me.

not much help but thought will add something to start the discussion :)
 
Yep, the 60mm is crop only, the 90mm will work on both :) Nice lenses. Only the 90mm would be suitable for that body though.

Anyone got any comments on IQ compared to equivalent canon lens?

Chris, I've not shot with the Canon lens, but have with the Nikkor (the 105 AFD) and the Tamron compares very well with it. It isn't built as well as the first party lenses, but is decent enough. In terms of IQ it won't let you down :)

Thanks for info, I used to use tamron in 35mm and always found them acceptable
Just getting back into it so starting from scratch need quite a few other things
So going the tamron will free up some spare cash for other goodies ;-)

I have the 90mm and it's a very sharp lens. 9 blades help with nice out of focus areas. Great value for money.
