£267.46 Delivered, is this a good deal or is there better?

As most are selling around the £200 mark, Im tempted to by new from Amazon.
 
Well, it should say in the item description. VC stands for 'vibration control', which is the Tamron version of image stabilisation. Non VC is, well, no stabilisation. The non VC version is generally regarded as the better lens for it's improved sharpness over the VC model. However, the non VC generally retails for quite a bit less than the VC.
 
I got mine new from Amazon for around the £300 mark in Feb 2011. Sub-£270 is good, and you've got the nice feeling that it's definitely new and fully warrantied. Not that I've ever had an issue with mine, but you get my drift!

Thanks Chris, Still haven't taken the plunge. Now looking at a Canon 28mm f1.8 instead and giving myself a headache :bang:
 
50mm f1.4, 60mm f2.8 macro, 70-200mm f4 and Tokina 12-24 f4.

Was looking for something to fill
the gap between the Tokina 12-24 and the Canon 50mm.

I am thinking new Tamron 17-50 f2.8 or used Canon 28mm f1.8

Thinking back to when I had a 28mm f1.8 I don't remember it as that wonderful, sharp centre but mediocre edges, and low contrast. I preferred the 35mm f2 from an IQ point.

I would say that other than having f1.8, the Tamron is superior.
 
You've got a great range of lenses there. Do you really need something else, or are you just looking for something to fill that 'gap'. The gap you have there isn't that big and if needs be, you can always zoom with your feet. If you saved, perhaps you could eventually replace that 70-200 f/4 with a 70-200 f/2.8 :)
 
Quick update, I have owned this lens for a few days now and can honesty say, the Canon 17-40mm L will not be missed!

This lens, (or at least my copy) order from Amazon UK and arrived from Germany for some reason is Amazingly sharp and the colours Awesome. In fact, in many areas, the Tamron pulls the pants down and slaps the Canons 17-40 bum on a crop body.
 
ive been tempted with just getting a new one as im after one too - amazon seems to be 283 though at the moment... thats quite a lot of money ! id love to have a go with one and a vc one and see myself if it really is better !

Have you considered Digital Rev? I saw them on their website for around £230.
