Ok I'm very new to photography and have inherited a Canon 400D which I am having great fun learning how to use. One of my favourite subjects is flowers and the closer shot I can get the better so I need a macro lens, someone recommended a Tamron SP90. Now I know it's like asking 'how long's a piece of string?' but would that suit my needs? Cost (as usual:() is a big factor so I would probably be looking at something secondhand. Have borrowed some bellows for a few days and having great fun with those but not really practical for taking out with me.

Oh and I am very technically illiterate so please be kind with me:)

Thank you

I've got the SP90 and its a good lens for the money. Others to consider in this price bracket are the Tokina 100mm and Sigma 105mm.

They should be available for around £200 second hand and should do the job

The Tamron Adaptall-2 SP 90mm (of which there were two versions) is manual focus and about £50-£100+. You'd need an M42 Adaptall mount on the lens and then an adapter to mount an M42 lens on your Canon.

Thanks for the replies am still looking and thinking - could go on forever really couldn't you:lol:
