I took this a couple of months ago while waiting for my taxi to charge. Popped inside for a cup of Rosie Lee.
Kensington Road Cab Shelter +blurred electric taxi.
One of 13 remaining Green Huts from the original 61 built between 1875 and 1914 by the Cabman's Shelter Fund, established by newspaper editor George Armstrong and the Earl of Shaftsbury, for the drivers of Hansome cabs to get hot food and shelter.
Anyone can buy food and drinks to take away via the open hatch, but only taxi drivers are allowed inside.
Swearing, gambling and drinking strictly prohibited
Because they stood on the public road they weren't allowed to be any bigger than a horse and cart. All are now grade 2 listed buildings.
