has anyone had any experience of this brand sdhc card

i saw the 4gb ones in tesco for about £12-13

they're a class 6 (not sure what this means)

I intend to use it on my D90

Never used TDK, but Tesco's were selling off the PNY 4GB for £5.
I bought one to try and was surprised how fast they were.

PNY 4GB Tescos

Sequential Read : 19.065 MB/s
Sequential Write : 12.213 MB/s
Random Read 512KB : 18.562 MB/s
Random Write 512KB : 2.267 MB/s

Test Size : 100 MB

I use this (and the 16gb version) and find they easily read at 15mb/s which isnt bad for getting photos onto the computer.(they are class 6 as well) I'm not sure about write times but i never exceed my cameras buffer so it doesnt bother me, and you've got a 9 frame buffer when shooting raw's, so it might not be a problem for you either.

what does Class 6 mean ?

Be careful with the TRANSCEND 8GB Class 10 Card by far the worst card I've ever bought (out of about 20) seems to randomly lose pics and on one occasion I made a separate dir. on the card to move the RAW files away from the JPG's and it lost all the RAW files. :gag: Another time the SIX most important files out of 200 taken went AWOL :naughty:

Google for people with similar stories. :eek:

On top of all that it's actually slower than the cheap PNY card

Just inserted 8GB TDK in my camera, and I keep getting asked to "reinsert SD memory card".:'( Card is recognised without problems by my computer (Acer laptop) which recognises its presence and allows me to copy files to it and delete them. Camera works fine with Sandisk Ultra HD card. Since I've copied existing photos to laptop and portable external hard drive, I could delete them from full SDHC card and re-use, but this is pain in the butt in mid-holiday. Do any more experienced digital photographers have any ideas what might be wrong?:shrug:

Hi Alan welcome.

Is the Sandisk the same size as the other card?

Are you using a card reader with the laptop of USB lead to the camers?
 
Thanks, Oggy. Yes, both cards are the same size. The Sandisk card, which I bought with the camera, works fine. I have in fact now cleared it and am reusing it to solve my immediate problem. The TDK card is not being recognised by the camera when inserted. It is, however, recognised by my Acer laptop when inserted into the slot in the machine. I therefore assume a compatibility problem between my Sony camera and the SDHC card. Any the wiser?
 
there used to be a problem with some cameras recognising cards over 4gb - but if the sandisk card is also 8gb it cant be that

that aside have you tried cleaning the contacts of the card - gently with a pencil eraser - as it could be just dirt causing an issue
 
That was my first thought Moose - an Sd/SDHC issue.

Dirt would be better addressed by plugging and unplugging the card a couple of times.

Alan - the evidence certainly suggests a compatibility issue. Anyone else using this combination?

Final thought - has the card been formatted as FAT32? If it had been formatted as NTFS for example, a Windows system would recognise it but the camera would not.
