don't fancy his chances much! this was just outside my caravan in Scotland, don't know who was victorious but both the wasp and the spider had vanished in the morning!

All handheld with the 18-55mm kit lens.

Cracking pictures.

My money would be on the spider. I once watched a similar tussle - it took a long time, but the spider won.

thanks all...yes, i've had some cracking images with the kit lens, even if it is hit and miss as I usually find the best bugs when I don't have my tripod with me (so end up taking dozens and hope at least 1 is in focus)!

Although it doesn't quite have the sharpness I crave, it will do me for now!
 
These are smashing shots, I agree with Robert it proves the kit lens is pretty damn good, 1 and 4 are my favourites.
