A teaser for what appears to be a new form factor wireless device has been posted on the PocketWizard website. The teaser, from the maker of the Plus II and MultiMAX wireless transceivers for triggering cameras and strobes, shows a small unit in the hot shoe of a 1-series Canon SLR, alongside the words "The new shape of wireless: 2/16/09".

Okay, so it's going to be their version of the Radio Popper. I dread to think of what it's going to cost.

I guess it will be in the region of expensive ;)

Be nice though if they have done away with the aerial, I've nearly had a few eyes out with mine.

So it's basically an ST-E2 that works at much greater distances but still requires you to have Pocket Wizards attached to any remote flashes.

Quite a clever idea all round really. Means those already in possession of PW can benefit and that those without still have to buy in to the system.

Now all we need is a price.

Wonder how long it will be before Canon realizes this is the way to go and incorporates a radio transmitter into there flashes?
I went over to Quantum flashes and PW's a few years ago as the Canon Infra red wireless system just isn't reliable enough.

580 EX III?

Although wouldn't that require them to also release something like an ST-E3 with radio?

Seems strange that they have a teaser, and then post this at the same time.
The teaser has been there for a while now. The whole site has been redesigned to incorporate the MiniTT1 amongst the usual suspects.
