Trying to find out how to connect my camera to my pc to show the shots that ive just taken (live) , i know that its all done through the usb cable thats suppllied (allbeit a short length) but i believe that there is a program thats also required, can anyone advise... please :thinking:
 
Nikon Camera Control Pro is the software you need. You can use longer length USB cables, I used a 5m USB 2.0 extension attached to the USB cable that came with the D80. Working tethered puts a huge drain on the D80 battery so you may want to consider using mains power if you plan to shoot for a while tethered.

I can tell you how to do it with a Canon but Nikon? I'm in the dark (side) ?

As Mark.A has highlighted - Camera Control pro is the only one I know of really.

Unfortunately nikon chose not to bundle any apps like this with their cameras.

I wanted to do some tethered shooting a while back and came across this site:

Have root about in there - that may do enough for you.

It doesn't do exactly what you want - but its free..

Have you got a composite out on your D80 - could you hook it up to a compsite signal on a TV and use the playback facilities to display it on the TV maybe? Again not elegant but it would work.
 
I am doing this with Bibble pro - you can download a free trial. Well you can if you have a Mac.
 
thanks everyone, it does seem to be Nikon control program thats required, i think i will leave diyphotobits alone, it looks a bit RAW to me, thanks for your time...
 
right ive now got the program (CCP) connected the camera, and off i go, cant believe it was that easy, should have do it long ago.
 
Nikon Capture Control was bundled with Nikon Capture 4 & 4.2, that's the edit software prior to NX.
Its the bomb for shooting tethered, I use it all the time, there's probably a newer version out now, but I don't think it comes with a software bundle, its stand alone.
Dunno how much better than NCC it is, can't be much better..:shrug:
