    I've never seen a camera do anything like that on it's own...

    It seems different raw converters treat the file different

    LR does this, one converter gave black with some white dots, and another showed the image correctly.

    I was going to say that it looks most like a bad card/file... I have no idea why reseating the lens would make any difference.
