this is (apart from snap-shots) one thing i do use a camera for. i draw and paint nudes/eroticism and use a camera for composing life/scene shots (rather than have someone pose for hours on end and so i can take my pick). its a very good time-saving tool. :)

needless to say, not being a photographer, are there any specialist techniques which apply to this type of photography. getting the pose and 'story' of the scene and lighting isnt a problem, but getting to look right on camera is.

i more or less know my way round the camera (a lumix fz8 i got cheap), which has controls for aperture, shutter, etc. is there anything that should be bourne in mind for creating shots of various sharpness or softness of light and line for example? (on purpose of course so i can control the degree).

thanks in advance,

joel

There is a really good book called 'Understanding Exposure' by a chap called Brian Peterson. It covers the use of aperture and shutter speed etc in order to create the artistically correct exposure for what you are trying to achieve. It's a very good book for getting started with managing things like the depth of field etc.

I think you might be contradicting yourself a little here. I've not ventured into this area of photography yet, but I'm sure many people will tell you that lighting is fundamental to making someone look good in a nude photo. (From what I've read - like I say, no real experience).
