Tele-converter

Hi
Thinking of buying a 2x tele-converter to add to my bag. I mainly shoot scenery but will sometimes see some wildlife i would like to capture i have a 70-300sigma zoom but was thinking a converter (a cheap option) to get up close. Any info welcome. Sam

With a TC and that lens:

- AF will be very sluggish if it works at all

- Max aperture at the long end will be f11 (f5.6 less 2 stops)

- the viewfinder will be darker than usual

- auto-exposure may not work properly.

If you are ok with all that, then get one!

Oops, Joe, you forgot to add the soft focus, increased flare, and chromatic abberation (purple fringeing) to that little list...

Imo, sam will regret it if he gets one.

from what i've seen the 1.4x converters perform alot better than 2x.
