Telephoto lens fashion nikon d3000

I have a nikon d3000 with the 18-55 and 55-300 nikon lens, looking to purchase a telephoto lens to start fashion catwalk photography.

Can anyone recommend a good lens with out spending a fortune ! ? Ideally only a few hundred quid etc.....

Hi Wozapw - welcome to the forum.

For a few hundred pounds you are not going to get anything that is going to be a step change better than your lenses.

What I would do is download a program like Wega 2 or Exposureplot which look at your photos and tell you how many you shot at what focal length. This will enable you to see what you use most.

Thanks for your tips, so there is no need to buy a lens just yet then ? Would my 55-300 be ok for shooting catwalks and 18-55 for close ups?

As you can probably tell I'm a newbie and want to build up a nice bit of kit

How close will you be to the catwalk? A 50mm prime or 85mm prime might be food for thought

It's more to give you an idea at what sort of focal length and help you get the right lens. I had similar lenses when I started out and found that most of my pictures were taken toward 300mm so my next lens was a Sigma 150-500.
