Yes
My 4 year old daughter had her first school photographs done the other day by Tempest.

I am not sure if the this is how Tempest do things and if what I have experienced is the norm but I have to say I was seriously not impressed, in fact as my title says - What a load of cr@ap!!

We had 3 poses to choose from, none of them were that great but we chose one anyway as it was out daughters first school photograph.

1. firstly the photographs that we got were terrible, the proofs were great colour wise etc. but the actual pictures we got were cr@p, the colour was totally washed out and my wife commented that they had a green tinge to them which I agree with, they do.

2. The paper was of poor quality and so thin that you can see the writing that is on the back through them without holding it up to any light source.

3. We were told that the pictures would come in those cardboard mounts/frames - They didn't, the mounts/frames were provided separately with no pictures in them.

4. We had ordered a number of smaller desk top sized prints for family and friends but the pictures them selves had not even been cut or trimmed for the frames, it seems we have to cut them out and trim them ourselves, same for the credit card sized prints and bookmarks we ordered.

All in all I am not very impressed at all, I wanted to ring Tempest up and complain but my wife wont let me.

Not sure on the colour or quality of paper, but our sons school photos always had to be cut and mounted in the frames by ourselves. It's been like that for as long as I can remember and our eldest is now 19.

Tell her there's a sale on at the local shoe shop, then call them while she's out ;)

In all seriousness though - if the quality of the final prints didn't meet the proofs then I'd be talking to them and finding out why...

weve had some that were not sharp, i complained didnt get far, i got free larger out of focus prints..

I certainly wasn't expecting that, especially considering the guy said all pictures would be cut and placed in the cardboard frames/mounts and all other prints would be cut and trimmed to size

Seems he lied to us about that then

Also from a personal standpoint when I have pictures taken by a professional and then go on to order prints I expect them to be cut and trimmed to the size I ordered and I expect those that I have asked to be in frames/mounts will be

This might be a bit behind the times as I'm now 30 but I know all my school pictures had to be cut out and mounted by my mum - as were by brother and sisters.

Quality of the paper etc is another matter altogether though.

Did you actually get to speak to the photographer or was it the school giving you this info?

We spoke to the photographer

When I had my school photograph taken, a long long time ago :suspect:, the pictures always came in cardboard frames/mounts - No cutting or trimming needed

Always had to cut our daughters photos, didn't see it as a problem because it helped us mount them how we wanted to.

We had tempest do ours, my photo was taken with the lens set a bit too wide and my face looked quite strange!, the year group photo was good though was done on large format film I think.
looking at one of my friends individual photos (I didn't order mine) I noticed poor printing quality(the image didn't look particularly sharp or detailed) and lens flare over her hair!

Tempest did our eldest's pre-school photo this year and both the pose of the class shot and the solo one and the quality of the print/mount are top notch. We have had some rubbish from the school before but they changed photo provider last year after complaints about the quality of the previous lot.

Tempest Photography did my University Ball photos a couple of years ago and, as it sits in front of me now, I'm reminded by just how disappointed I was. The photo quality is abysmal and, had I any sense at the time, I should have taken it up with them.

Bucaroo was fully assembled when I bought one in 1974, I bought one recently and it was a kit :( a sign of the times
