Just curious really. When I use tethered shooting, it uses software called Image Data Lightbox (Came with the camera) to view the images on screen. I then drag the images into Elements to convert them from RAW (via ACR) and edit them.

When I close IDL it prompts me to save and does so as a lightbox (LBW) file, but the file only appears to be a few kilobytes in size despite containing around 40 RAW files which are usually around 18 megabytes each! Are they really compressed in storage by that much or is it magic?

I'd have thought the RAW files were being stored elsewhere, and the LBW is merely a 'library' file?

Have a search through your hard drive for all the RAW files...whatever file format they are (.raw .cr2 etc)

If you're not back in 30 minutes, I'll send out the rescue crew!

edit - There was some atrocious spelling in my original post
