Tethered Shooting... please help!

Yes
I have connected my 50D to my Macbook via USB.

I know the cable works as its bringing up the option to take the photos off the card.

Is it a case of just shooting with it plugged in? I tried this and I keep getting 'busy' come up on the viewfinder and won't let me press the shutter.

I tried it without the CF card and it just says 'no card'

I've looked through the menus but can't seem to see anything relevant

Please help!

you need to start eos utility
;)

hit up the tutorial I wrote in the tutorials section under post processing and image editing

You will also need to go to the camera settings and choose USB in the connectivity tab. (I think)

You'll need to wait until the 'busy' stops.

Ahhhh - just realised why Sofortbild isnt working for me - it's a Nikon thang.

Right - so can anyone recommend me some software that does a similar kind of thing?

I'm taking some formal couple shots and want something that looks alright for the couples to be able to look at and select their pics to print?

As mentioned above, use the EOS utility software that came with the camera.

Ok, excuse me if this is dumb - Im the most untechincal person out there.....

I will be doing this on location - will have WiFi at the location, but I don't have a network or anything.

Do I need to be online for the Picasa folder to watch the folder the pics are going in to, or is it something I can download and it will do it?

no idea never used it

install it and unplug the network then see if it works - if so use it, if not we'll think something else up

Have a look on the disks, it should be printed on the disk what the contents are. You're looking for the one with the EOS utility program on it.

I don't have my disks here or I would tell you what one it is.

This will let you take the pics tethered to your laptop via the cable. The pics can then be selected and viewed full screen if required.
