Tethered Shooting

I've been thinking as I'm getting more into event photography and doing live shooting and printing is there a way I can connect my camera into an extenal hard drive to then link to my laptop, rather than filling up hard drive space on the laptop itself.

So basically does anyone know of a hard drive you can import into as well as export? Would be good if it had a network port on it as well

Basically, you do what new2me said.

You connect the camera to the laptop. Then you connect the hard disk to the laptop.

Then you tell the download/tether software, to store the files on the hard disk externally, rather than the internal hard disk.
i.e. with EOS Utility (the canon software), I would tell it to dump the pictures in d:\canon rather than c:\canon

Sounds a bit easier than what I was trying to do

I'll have to check on the Nikon Capture to see if you can do it, also Lightroom tethered.

Yeah that's what I meant sorry. I've got all the software was just unsure about trying to save it to an external hard drive
