Hi

Does anyone know of an App (preferentially free) to tether an Ipad3 to my camera, for remote shooting and intervalometer, I know theres some with wifi and computer to camera tethered, I want to cut out the Mac/pc

TIA

Dave

Hi Dave,

Pretty sure there aren't any free things for what you want out there....but it can be done....there are four things that you need....
1)Eye-Fi Pro X2 SD Card
2)Jailbroken iPad
3)App from the Cydia store (you get to this after Jail Breaking iPad) called 'My Wi'
4)App from iTunes called 'Shuttersnitch'

Have a look at this link and watch the video ....it explains it fully

Thanks Neil funnily enough Ive just read that, I dont really want to JB my IPad, as I dont know what Im doing as its fairly new my first IPad3, youd have thought canon would have made an Eos utility App

i've tried my eye-fi X2 pro's direct mode, never got it to work. the eye-fi apps sucks big time.

i don't think you can wire a camera to the ipad, that would require first party accessory from camera makers.

i use an eye fi connect x2 with my iPad 3 and it works a treat. Was a bit of a devil to set up but once that was done i havnt had a problem with it.

I didnt bother with the pro version of the card as i just wanted something to simply transfer files over so didnt see the point of the extra costs / options that it gave you.

Failing that you just have to resort to the camera connection kit and dump the images over en masse.

*edit* oh you want to control the camera from the ipad remotely? No idea then, sorry :)
