Just been shown a large print by a client that looks like is been printed on a textured board or laminated in some way. Its not textured paper and has a hard textured surface, any idea what it is?

You get textured laminates which are applied to prints- which are then usually mounted onto board of many types....
I personally use one that has a brushed steel texture - then laminate the print onto board, foamex or dibond
