Having finally decided to upgrade my screen, I'm confused.

Several screens: Lacie 324, Eizo Flexscan S2411, Eizo S2111W & NEC Spectraview 2090 & 2190 all get good reviews, have (fairly) similar prices but widely different brightness and contrast rates. Are these rates that important? An NEC gives 700:1 contrast and a cheaper Eizo gives 3000:1!

Has anyone got any advice or personal experience of any of these, please?

Don't get to hung up on contrast ratio's for photo editing. 1000:1 is fine , but a decent monitor calibrator will set the correct value. Also brightness, for editing about 120-140 cd/m is about right. In fact you have to turn most monitors way down to get this value

The important bit for photography is angle of view, some panels have poor viewing angles & the colours change unless you are sitting in exactly the right position
