Has anyone got any experience using the Sony F45RM flashgun on a Sony A7Riii.I am looking for a flash gun which AF illuminator will work on my body and according to Sony's website the F45RM will!
Thanks in advance
Pretty good if Sony sussed this, I know it really annoyed a lot of people. Good luck.
I have a theory, Sigma has always backed Canikon, maybe they aren't convinced by Sony FE yet and are waiting to see what Canikon do mount wise. Developing so many lenses means they have to be in it for the long haul.

I really hope so. When on Sony's website, and choose the A7Riii every flashgun doesn't have a tick by "AF illuminator" apart from the F45RM
I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that somebody confirms this, as it was the only thing I was hating about my new purchase!
Just buy and return if it doesn't work.
I was thinking the same but I think they would have been better off not releasing these half-arsed attempts and waited for the right moment to dazzle is with their brilliance. Now they just seem like a joke to me.
Dont think any of us where looking for all of that in one go but hopeful of a compact 35 art.Lol, but then you would've waited years for that line up, it would've cost them significantly and Sony would be using a new mount.
Would've been very annoyed if I bought the a9, was considering it based on early sigma rumours.
Anyways look and stop moaning you lot!
If canikon start with a brand new mount. It's also game set match for Sony and that I'm worried about. Need competitions and reasons for some of you lot to chop and change every week hehe
Thats the thing. will u care much if they perform like GM lenses? i wouldnt .Well if they make that 120-300mm/2.8 AF like a native lens then I'll forgive them for this![]()
As I was saying the new canon 85mm/1.4 L is the same size as 85mm GM. So Sony still has the ~25mm-ish flange distance advantage which is completely lost with this.
Looks like the Sigma 24-70 wasn't worth waiting for if it's a canon version with mc11 permanently attached, the siggy lenses aren't cheap anyway and at least with the mc11 you could use the same adapter for other lenses.
Time for me to take the plunge, as there are some reasonably priced used G masters about, and I think my 16-35 f4 can go in part ex as a check on metadata shows I don't seem to have taken anything wider than 24mm
Shame Tamron have gone the longer, 28-75 route as I'm sure that could have been a good option!
Any users with opinions on the Sony?
Theyve got enough on their plates with the new A7iiiLeave Johnathan and Chris alone
Haaaayyoooooo

As EVEN YOU pointed out you cant beat physics.
The 35mm canon with MC11 is same damm size as the sony 35 1.4!!!
Anyways look and stop moaning you lot!
If and i mean IF thes enative lenses perform in terms of AF like native/GM lenses then this is f*****g amazing!!
This could be a winner for Sony. BUT it's a big kick in the teeth for the A9. My biggest complaint of this camera was that it only has 5fps mechanical shutter yet was billed as a sports cam. Clearly not if you're using it under artificial lighting or as shown by Jarid Polin LED sponsor boards at footy games and the like. If it has the A9'\s AF system and has 10fps mechanical shutter this could be a great allrounder and sports cam. Time will tell![]()
Are you getting one.? Surely it ticks all the boxes for your needs?Jonney and Riz will be preordering [emoji14]
So the A9 is at 3k used thats 1.5k loss on new, imagine what its going to be when the A7iii is released at less than half the price.
And no blackoutLet's not forget A9 still probably has better high ISO performance and also 20fps option.

Let's not forget A9 still probably has better high ISO performance and also 20fps option both of which are important for sports camera. The banding with silent shutter on A7iii may not be as will controlled either.
and 5fps mechanical
I am thinking the same because I can easily get £1300 now for A7RII (MPB quote). So it won't cost much to upgrade. But 42mpGonna trade my A7rII to a A7III
What's wrong with the sigma art emount besides size? If it perform like a gm lens whats wrong?Wait and see I guess, I am disappointed Sigma didn't release a 'proper' FE 35 ART.
I sold mine for around that as wellI am thinking the same because I can easily get £1300 now for A7RII (MPB quote). So it won't cost much to upgrade. But 42mp![]()
