Well that doesn't look terrifying at all. It's a long time since I tore something down like that, and it was far simpler and less expensive (an old loox). Good job on the repair.
The shutter assembly was £120 brand new from Sony
No, I didn't convert it to full spectrum, but it's easy to do, just need to have replacement filter. Or just remove the IR filter from the sensor completely.Ws it your full teardown on DPreview to make it full spectrum?
Can anyone tell me if any of the A7 cameras have an optical viewfinder mode or is it just exposure view only. Just comes in handy when shooting manual flash and you don't need a preview. My Xt1 had this and it worked brilliantly.

Thanks for that.
@twist, hanging on to see what Sony announce in the next week or so regarding the new A9/a7rii.
Not a bad idea but whatever it is its going to cost a lot more than current gen.
Agreed, I'm also wondering how the price might reflect on current models, if at all. I'll kick myself if it does.
I'm also hoping they update the 24-70 f4 for some corner sharpness and remove the onion ring bokeh. This lens should have been nailed.
Fat chance of that happening.
Agreed, fat chance. Why not get the 16-35?
There's a Loxia 85 f1.4 out now.
I havent heard anything about an 85mm Loxia.
Think he might mean the Otus?
Golly That's a beast but as the 55mm f1.8 is rather nice and the Sigma Art gets rave reviews I wonder what this brings to the table over and above the cheaper AF offering.
Uncompromised IQ apparently, equivalent of a F1 race car in the camera world, atleast that what they say. They look a massive beast on the A7 though and with that price tag don't think I'd want to be walking around the streets with it.
Rumours...
"Sony Artisan Brian Smith: “someone might just make a 50mp camera for less than 3700 bucks!”"
"He is likely “hearing” the same rumors I got….sounds exactly like the A7rII to me."
Read all about it...

There may be an announcement "soon" but these are so far only rumours
To many pixels for me, good advancement though.
I'm considering it but I think it might turn out a very expensive exercise. I'd love one for landscapes but I fear my 2007 imac is already quaking at the thought.
