Realistically when do you think these will be in the shops...........i will be back in the UK for a wee holiday at the end of August and it would be great to have one of these along with the new Baits lenses for my holiday![]()
At anything like that price, if/when I buy it will be an import with a capital I.£2899 will be my guessbut either way you are going to get shafted with a capital S.
I suppose we'll soon know how much it is.
Is the A7rII higher spec than a Canon 5DIII? They're about £2,250 and a Nikon D810 is £2,350 (both at Wex) and I'd rather have the CSC A7rII if it's anywhere near that sort of price. I hope Sony price it aggressively and shock us all, shock us in a nice way![]()
Its still less than 1/2 the price of a Leica M so to me until it gets up around the 6k mark its frigging cheap..............also going on the speck and with the ability to shoot in AF its 10 time better than a Leica MI
There does seem to be a huge premium price wise on mirror less I guess due to its size v specification when compared to the DSLR competition.

Poppy Road by Chris Harrison, on FlickrI really should not have checked the details on your poppy pic. I was Lusting after the 55mm f1.8 and that pic combined with a 10% off eBay paypal voucher might just tip me over the edge. Oh and also get me kicked out of the house by my wife!Stunning evening here in Wiltshire, new bypass built but not open yet, nice and quiet!

Time will tell. I an putting that lens to its paces here in NYCIt's an excellent lens and the reports of its sharpness are not overstated. Sharpness isn't everything of course but if looking for optical nasties there's precious little to find with this lens.
You'd expect centre performance to be pretty good and it is but the surprise to me was looking into the edges and corners, it is IMVHO an outstanding lens.
You really should get oneHave it sent to a friends home and pick it up from there

Pre-orders for the A7RII open in just over 48hrs in the UK, so somewhat odd that they've only announced a US price so far.
Tempting, I have to say. The A7II and A77II would go a fair way to funding it!

Why u don't like the big files? Allows you to crop for fun mate.I like the idea of the silent shutter and IBIS but I don't need the massive files but would probably want to keep the full res raw's so I suppose I'd have to downsize the JPEG's.
The best course for me would be to wait until the A7 gets a silent shutter, but by that time it'll probably be 100mp![]()
I only store full size raw's. The rest are jpg compressedYes, it's amazing how much I can crop even my 16mp MFT files but when viewing on screen or sharing electronically 2000 pixies wide is overkill. I like to keep the raw's just in case I want a full sized file to lust over or print but I'm beginning to think that having a pc full of full sized JPEG's is just a waste of space.
In some ways the AF on Canon/Nikon DSLRs is higher spec - for speed and tracking they'll probably still be ahead of the A7RII, but their AF systems are lower spec in other ways. They're still limited to a tiny diamond of AF points in the centre of the frame, can't find and lock onto eyes, and still suffer from back/front focus issues, AF microadjusting and all that nonsense. One gives you speed, the other finesse. Which is higher spec depends on your specific needs. If we look purely at megapixels then it probably is at least equal to a D810 or 5DIII but there going to be seen things that the Nikon and Canon do better which would make them considered as higher spec, AF for one thing.
