Samyang not have any?
If they do a 16mm im having it. The system is really missing a uwa prime.
Holy cow. There's me thinking the evf uses less...It does AFAIK, someone did a test....
Power Draw
With LCD On: 235 mA
With EVF On: 252.5 mA
I got it and it's brilliant but I noticed a lot of smearing in the edgesSamyang not have any?
Mick looks a great combo.
I think my A7R2 is fantastic and I have stated it here and elsewhere. However since the June launch I feel the majority of posts everywhere I've visited seem to have been made by detractors who have found something not to their liking most of whom have never had this camera in their hands let alone used one like you with your new 90 macro lens. That's fine and probably the way of things but what it has done is make me switch off and just get on with learning the features of my new baby and ignoring most comments / issues raised.
I thought you were very tolerant in your reply like you I was former Canon user I don't knock it I have just changed and moved on
for what you shoot the Sony is probably the better camera
Hehe do we have some Sony fanboyism going on here?
Whilst that poster clearly went on an ill-informed rant of little substance, some of it is true. Canon and Nikon have more specialist glass available (particularly at longer focal lengths) and I'll wager a bet that DSLRs will still track better than a DSLR. But...for what you shoot the Sony is probably the better camera. Plus your back will be in a better state after a day of shooting
I got my A7R II a week ago so thought I would share a few shots taken with the 90mm F2.8G macro lens I bought at the same time!
I am sure most have seen macro stuff with this combo so I have concentrated on testing more on general use, and specifically some action shots just to see how good the autofocus is? I had the A7 and it was the slowest autofocus camera I have ever had so I took a big hit returning it!
I was therefore very wary of spending so much again on this one due to very chalk and cheese reviews on just how good it is? There are not may real world man on the street so to speak reviews at the moment? Just a lot of sponsored ones?
Luckily my fears were unfounded as hopefully these shots will show
Cheers Mick
Mind though the big primes would cost as much or more the the a7r2 not really like for like, would be OK for people playing bowls that's a sport or what about dartsthat dp guy is right, its not a great choice for sports, sure you can get good results with it, but a d4s or 1dx and selection of big primes is still the most consistent and straightforward to use for sports
But the award was just best camera of 2015, nowhere does it say that the best camera has to be able to do everything. So pointless trolling really from that guythat dp guy is right, its not a great choice for sports, sure you can get good results with it, but a d4s or 1dx and selection of big primes is still the most consistent and straightforward to use for sports

It all relative in what you want from a camera at the end of the day I think?

If it was me I would require a bed as that would just prove so exciting (yawn)Apparently they want Bridge to be considered a sport, snigger. Wont need fast AF for that.

I them was t days candles for warmth sometimes pa wood lit one pesky new fangled gadgets course I had no brownie just paper and charcoalAll this bleating about focus performance, for gawd sake... far too much reliance on the gear.
I remember when we ad to get up alf 'n hour before we went 't bed an ed off owt wit 't box brownie and we still captured bullets in flight. Kids today! Don't know they're born.
Yea but come on how long has canon and nikon been in the game.? I see Sony as the Microsoft of gaming. When they first came with the xbox 1 the tech behind it was brilliant but still had some flaws and lack of games. Fast forward over 10 years and they now one of the pinnacles of gaming industry.Hehe do we have some Sony fanboyism going on here?

Sony critics do seem to be very vocal and I do wonder why. The bitching and sniping seems to be quite common in Sony forums across the net and I do wonder why people devote time to it, if the kit doesn't suit then move on... problem solved, but there do seem to be people who will not move on and would rather spend their time sniping endlessly about the same issues.Yea but come on how long has canon and nikon been in the game...

As a former Canon DSLR owner I had a 300D and then 20D for over 7 years and then a 5D. I was reasonably happy with these cameras apart from their bulk, weight and obtrusiveness and the A7 has improved on all of those issues whilst offering better image quality. Great stuff... for ME.
I do understand the focus issues which are repeatedly raised but as all I've ever used is single spot any lack in tracking ability doesn't affect ME. I find that my A7+35, 55 or 28-70mm lens focuses at least as fast as the DSLR's and lenses I had but more accurately. I also appreciate the complaints about battery life but it's just never been a real world issue for ME. The whole OVF v EVF debate for ME is now largely over and I now only have slight concerns over eye strain in low light but in every othet way I now see EVF's as clear winners. The availability of lenses is another target but for ME the important focal lengths are covered and then there's the prices... for ME the kit is priced ok and again, if the system doesn't suit why don't people just move on?
I think that the best way forward is to balance the advantages and disadvantages and make a decision for ourselves... but I just don't see the need for the repeated sniping and Sony bashing, it's something that we don't really in the other make theads apart from maybe the Canon 5Dsr or whaterver it is thread. It's just a shame that thread after thread descends into negativity every few pages.
